We are seeking an experienced nurse to join our Bariatric CNS team and the benign thyroid service. This one-year fixed-term/secondment post offers an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to try something different. Anticipated schedule: four days a week working with the bariatric service and one day a week with the benign endocrine surgical service.
As part of the bariatric CNS service, the successful candidate will support both surgical and medical bariatric patients through the pathway with the aim of increasing patient education sessions, one-stop clinics and day-case surgeries, thereby reducing the waiting list and improving patient experience. The role also includes participation in the surgical pre-assessment of bariatric patients.
In the benign endocrine service, the post holder will work closely with surgical consultants for thyroid, adrenal and parathyroid surgery, with a particular focus on increasing the number of day cases. The successful candidate will support and increase the number of nurse-led clinics, patient education sessions and one-stop clinics for the bariatric service, including support for the bariatric day-case pathway.
Essential attributes: highly organised, excellent communication skills, ability to work collaboratively and flexibly across services and multidisciplinary teams (MDTs).
