University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is appointing a Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist for a 6‑month fixed‑term post to join our nationally and internationally recognised oncology service. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred cancer care.
Clinical Responsibilities
• Manage patients with urological malignancies, including prostate, bladder, renal, and testicular cancers, through multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, outpatient clinics, and inpatient care.
• Deliver consultant‑level medical oncology care for patients with gastrointestinal cancers, providing systemic anti‑cancer therapy across inpatient and outpatient settings.
Operational Oversight
Work closely with the AOS Lead and Clinical Lead to develop and implement operational protocols, improve patient flow, and ensure high standards of assessment, treatment and discharge in the Cancer Assessment Unit (CAU). Monitor quality and safety, enforce clinical guidelines, and identify opportunities for service improvement.
Education and Governance
Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education, supervising and training specialty trainees. Play an active role in the governance, development and continuous improvement of the wider oncology department.
Flexibility
Flexibility is expected to support service evolution, reflecting the complexity and changing nature of GI oncology care, while allowing scope to develop individual clinical, operational and leadership interests.
