A Vacancy at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for an ST3+ level doctor to develop advanced clinical and academic skills within a world‑leading tertiary fetal–maternal medicine referral centre at UCLH.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred obstetric ultrasound within a busy tertiary fetal–maternal medicine referral centre, demonstrating strong clinical judgement and the ability to manage complex cases efficiently within a multidisciplinary team.
- Perform advanced obstetric ultrasound scans in the first, second and third trimester, including independent certification in cervical length assessments, fetal Dopplers and fetal echocardiography.
- Develop effective communication, prioritisation and decision‑making skills in a dynamic clinical environment while upholding the policies and values of UCLH.
- Take an academic focus, undertaking a higher degree (PhD) alongside clinical training; contribute to the design, delivery and analysis of original research in fetal–maternal medicine, including study methodology, data interpretation and scientific writing.
- Present research at national and international meetings and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Support teaching and supervision of resident doctors, midwives and sonographers, helping to develop others’ skills in obstetric ultrasound and maintaining a culture of safety and continuous learning.
- Contribute to service improvement, clinical governance and audit activities, demonstrating initiative and leadership.
Qualifications
- ST3+ level doctor in obstetrics or a related specialty.
- Strong interest in fetal medicine.
- Proven clinical experience in obstetric ultrasound and management of complex cases.
- Capability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and to develop advanced ultrasound competencies.
- Strong communication, prioritisation and decision‑making skills in a dynamic clinical environment.
