The CUH/UCC Cancer Centre is recruiting a Professor of Cancer Clinical Trials to join a growing team focused on expanding cancer clinical trials and increasing patient accruals in the Southwest region of Ireland, in alignment with national and OECI targets. This academic oncology role is open to a medical oncologist and involves a joint appointment with University College Cork (UCC) and Cork University Hospital (CUH). The initial commitment is 18.5 hours per week at each institution, with potential for future restructuring.

The Professor of Cancer Clinical Trials will play a central role in shaping the future of cancer research in the region. As a key member of the Cancer Research @UCC and CUH/UCC Cancer Centre leadership teams, they will have access to office and laboratory space and will be supported by the UCC Cancer Trials Group, the CRF-UCC, and affiliated hospital sites.

The successful candidate is expected to have international recognition in cancer clinical trials and will play a key role in expanding investigator-initiated trials while attracting new industry-sponsored and international collaborative trials to the region. They will join a highly skilled Medical Oncology team at CUH, with their training and subspecialty interests shaping their integration into the service and determining which multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings they will support.

Qualifications:

  • A doctorate or appropriate professional qualification (e.g. MD; PhD) or a significant record of research and publication in the relevant discipline.

This position is supported through a strategic collaboration between UCC and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), USA.
