Job Description
JOB TITLE: Student and Financial Support Supervisor
LOCATION: King's Lynn campus (with semi-regular travel to other campuses)
HOURS: 37 hours per week (Monday - Thursday: 8.30am - 5pm, Friday: 8.30am - 4.30pm)
SALARY: £29,534 - £31,629
We’re looking for a compassionate, person-focused and flexible leader to oversee our Student and Financial Support team. You’ll understand that great learner support starts with listening to the individual, rather than simply applying the same process to everyone, and you’ll be confident finding fair and practical solutions that help learners overcome barriers and succeed at college.
You’ll manage a team of five who provide a friendly first point of contact for learners, applicants, parents and carers, supporting them with enrolment, financial support, transport, equipment, course enquiries and other practical aspects of college life. They assess financial support applications, process enrolments and payments, arrange travel passes and essential equipment and work closely with curriculum and student support colleagues to ensure help reaches those who need it most. The team also manages enquiries and enrolments for our adult tailored learning provision: a varied programme of courses designed to help adults develop a new skill, explore an interest or take up a new hobby.
You’ll provide clear and supportive leadership to the team while overseeing these services across the college. This includes coordinating enrolment activity, managing student support budgets, making balanced decisions in exceptional circumstances and ensuring processes remain fair, consistent and compliant. Part of the role will be to ensure curriculum staff are fully aware of the support that the team can offer their learners by attending faculty staff meetings or "golden hours" and regularly keeping in touch with programme managers. During the summer, your team will grow temporarily as you recruit and manage casual staff to deliver enrolment activity across our campuses. You’ll ensure that every learner receives a welcoming and positive first experience of the college, while maintaining accurate records and compliance with funding rules.
This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who is approachable, organised and comfortable balancing numerous priorities. We're not necessarily looking for someone who has previous management experience; what is important is your ability to communicate, lead by example, use sound judgement and demonstrate your skills to create a responsive service that genuinely puts our learners first.
