About us
Universities UK (UUK) is the collective voice of UK universities, bringing together institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to help them thrive and serve society. With a staff group of just under 160 people, we are a values‑led organisation that prioritises collaboration, inclusion and wellbeing at work. Based at Woburn House in central London, we operate from a professional office environment with a busy conference and events centre that supports the work of the higher education sector.
About the role
We are seeking a technically capable Facilities Manager to take lead responsibility for the maintenance, performance and compliance of our building systems. Reporting to the Head of Property and Facilities, you will oversee all hard services and soft services, including planned and reactive maintenance, HVAC systems, building management systems (BMS), electrical and mechanical infrastructure, statutory inspections, cleaning and security. You will manage the CAFM system to ensure accurate logging, prioritisation and completion of works, and take day‑to‑day ownership of contractor performance, service delivery and asset reliability. The role also supports a busy conference and events environment, where dependable building services and operational readiness are critical, and includes line management responsibility for a small team.
About you
You will be an experienced hard‑services or technically focused facilities professional with hands‑on experience of facilities management in an occupied office environment. You will have a strong understanding of HVAC systems, M&E services, BMS operation and statutory compliance, ideally supported by a NEBOSH qualification or equivalent. Confident managing contractors and service partners, you will be organised, detail‑driven and pragmatic, with the ability to diagnose issues, challenge poor performance and ensure high standards of maintenance delivery. You will also value collaboration, inclusive ways of working, and contributing to a mission‑driven organisation.
