The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive, dynamic, and versatile First Line Transport Manager to join our growing team and oversee operations across the Scotland region, covering Coatbridge, Perth, Inverness, and Aberdeen. This is a hands-on role that will support the current Transport Manager and play a key part in expanding our operations across Scotland. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, operational insight, and a collaborative mindset to help drive growth and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the existing Transport Manager in overseeing daily operations across multiple Scottish sites.
- Manage drivers, including recruitment, wellbeing, and HR-related processes.
- Take a hands-on approach to resolving operational issues related to depots, vehicles, or personnel.
- Monitor driver compliance with tachograph regulations and provide coaching where necessary.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies and statutory obligations, including Health & Safety, Operator Licensing, Quality, and Environmental standards.
- Maintain clear and effective communication between drivers and the operations team.
- Collaborate with the wider Transport Management team to support national operations.
- Travel as needed to relocate vehicles, staff, and stock across the UK.
- Conduct thorough accident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Utilise knowledge and experience in vacuum tankers and waste effluent removal, treatment, and disposal to support operational excellence and service delivery in the Scotland region.
Candidate Requirements
- Transport Manager CPC qualification (essential)
- Full UK Driving Licence (required)
- Category C Licence (required)
- Experience in transport operations and driver management
- Strong understanding of health and safety practices
- Willingness to travel and stay away from home 2β3 nights per week
- Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills
