We are looking to hire an Electronics Engineer - Test IC / IC Evaluation Engineer to join an established ASIC design group working on developing and running measurement solutions to evaluate a range of cryogenic-compatible ASICs and micromachined components. What You'll Accomplish:
- Lead the testing of integrated circuits (ICs) and micromachined assemblies as a primary duty.
- Design, build and test electronics solution using your skills of analogue and digital circuit design together with industry standard CAD packages and test equipment.
- Create reports detailing the performance of ASICs at nominal and cryogenic temperatures.
- Write the documentation of your electronics test circuits.
- Develop your experience in a broad range of electronics engineering subject areas.
- Maintain the multidisciplinary collaboration with mechanical engineers, software engineers, physicists, working towards a common goal.
- Play a key role in building test systems for quantum computers.
- Engage with project planning activities, risk management and scheduling requirements.
- Help with fast turn-around proof of concepts and feasibility discussions.
- Work closely with the IC design team to implement best practices and improve product documentation.
- Work with silicon at various stages of assembly and work with suppliers to define and produce packaging for chip-specific evaluation.
- Work with the design team to help identify root causes of functional or performance deviations.
Requirements
The 3 Most Critical Attributes We'll Use to Compare Candidates:
- Excellent knowledge of electronics circuit / IC's theory and good EM field theory, including noise analysis and physical device knowledge from a testing point of view.
- PCB schematic and layout using CAD tools, good manufacturing process knowledge and excellent verification/debug skills using electronics test equipment.
- Strong knowledge within the IC domain and integration within other electronics assemblies.
Must-have Skills:
- Minimum 8 years' experience in high performance Electronics Design including IC, Digital, Analog and Embedded.
- Experience of PCB Design using ECAD (e.g., Altium, or similar).
- Use and automation of spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes and VNA for taking precision measurements.
- Experience of FPGAs and embedded software engineering for real time systems.
- Experience of working with suppliers and contractors.
- Demonstrate a strong discipline for thorough documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Team Player.
- At least 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
Nice-to-have Skills:
- Strong Python programming skills.
