We are looking to hire a Team Lead β Hardware within the Electronics Group to realize the electronic solution of our Quantum Computer. What You'll Accomplish:
- Technical decision maker on the complex integrated electronics solution of our Quantum Computer.
- Design, build and test electronics solutions using analogue and digital circuit design together with industry standard CAD packages and test equipment.
- Develop your experience in a broad range of electronic engineering subject areas.
- Encourage multidisciplinary collaboration of your team with mechanical engineers, software engineers, physicists, quantum hardware engineers, and external suppliers to ensure an integrated solution.
- Mentor senior and junior team members on electronics idea creation, design, build and test and working collaboratively as a team.
- Work with Program Managers to provide estimates of your team's work to allow cohesive schedules to be met and report on those projects progress.
- Communicate risks and issues early and comprehensively, and proactively identify and closure the resolution.
- Manage commercials and engagements with suppliers.

- Experience in taking responsibility for the full electronics solution design and manufacturing life cycle.
- Ability to view tasks as part of a wider system and understand how decisions and actions influence other parts of the work.
- Strong leadership skills: bring an empathetic mindset, embed engineering best practices, support the team, cultivate teamwork and cross-functional collaboration to deliver on innovative solutions on time and within budget.
Must-have Skills:
- Minimum 15+ years' experience in high-performance Electronics Design, including Digital, Analogue and Embedded.
- Excellent knowledge of electronic circuit theory and good EM field theory, including noise analysis and physical device knowledge.
- Strong engineering planning skills and experience working with Jira.
- PCB schematic and layout using CAD tools, good manufacturing process knowledge and excellent verification/debugging skills using electronic test equipment.
- Familiarity with digital system integration using HDL and high-level programming languages.
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering challenges and thermal awareness.
- Knowledge of spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes, VNA, etc.
- Experience of working with suppliers and contractors.
- Demonstrate a strong discipline for thorough documentation and QMS processes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be a team player.
- Team management experience.
- At least 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
Nice-to-have Skills:
- A background in one of RF engineering, Research, Metrology, or instrumentation.
- Understanding of signal integrity, high-speed digital, and EMC.
- Experience of C and/or scripting languages, e.g. Python, MATLAB.
- Experience with LabVIEW.
- Pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices.
- Experience in FPGAs and embedded software engineering for real-time systems.
