Department Description
With a global footprint, the Universal Music Group Rights Product & Services Team designs, develops, delivers, maintains & supports technical solutions which enable the capture and maintenance of contracts relating to repertoire delivery and the assignment of repertoire delivered under those contracts.
The team continuously collaborates with our international business teams to deliver innovative solutions as well as supporting best practices and new processes for a better ‘rights’ experience.
The Role
The Senior Full Stack Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining UMG’s Rights front-end applications, back-end processing and services, using the tech stack described.
The Senior Full Stack Engineer will be part of an agile product team, collaborating closely with product owners, business analysts, the tech lead, other developers, QAs and DevOps to deliver secure, performant and reliable solutions.
There is an expectation that the successful candidate will be a self-starter, be able to adapt quickly to the team, be able to quickly get up to speed with the Rights systems with a minimum of supervision and be comfortable coming into an environment where we are aiming to deliver to a tight schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with the Technical Team Lead and Senior Developers within your team and respond to their guidance and support
Attend and contribute to sprint ceremonies including planning sessions, stand-ups and retrospectives
Understand UMG’s complex business domain and be comfortable with the existing code-based solutions
Ensure that the acceptance criteria of user stories are met and failures in QA are limited
Produce high quality code using Test Driven Development
Embrace exposure to new architectures, cloud-based infrastructures, microservices and modern ways of working
Be able to diagnose issues via debugging, logging and telemetry with tools like Dynatrace
Must be able to be self-learn and be motivated to understand code written by others
Ability/willingness to work with a remote team with minimal cross-over
Able to work with business users to identify and resolve production issues
Skills and Experience Required
Technical: Modern .NET, React.js, Familiarity with AWS Services, Postgres/SQL databases
Personal: Easy to work with, Sense of Ownership, Good communication skills
Excellent professional experience of C#, and the modern .Net ecosystem
Professional experience with React and test frameworks such as Jest
Experience using containerised systems, with some experience with ECS or Kubernetes
Experience in writing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Tekton, or similar
Professional experience using JavaScript and TypeScript
Experience with message-based architecture (SNS/SQS or similar)
An understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, Postgres and JSON data type preferred
Test Driven Development and Behavior Driven Development
A good understanding of design patterns and principles e.g. SOLID and GO4 (desirable)
Experience working in an Agile based project delivery environment
Ability to refactor code
Ability to work in a complex and fast-moving domain
Desirable
Familiarity with other data stores, including cloud-based managed offerings
AWS Cloud (or similar e.g. Azure)
Experience in building React components based around Bootstrap
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent demonstrable experience
Demonstrable web development experience (experience in media/entertainment industry is a plus)
Experience in an agile environment (Scrum and/or Kanban)
