Department Description

The Royalty Department plays a key role for our artists. Using royalty clauses contained within the recording agreements, we create and deliver regular royalty statements that are transparent and accurate in a timely manner. The world of royalties is changing faster than ever and we are continuously adapting to change as well as implementing new initiatives and processes to continue to deliver a best in class service.

The Role

Working in the royalty audit team within the royalty department, the Royalty Audit Assistant will work across various ongoing royalty audits towards the audit’s final settlement. Reporting to the Head of Royalty Audits, the role is responsible for assisting with gathering, reviewing, analysis and delivery of royalty data. The audits will cover the UMG roster, working across all the frontline labels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tracking audit queries, updating work schedules and maintaining audit files.
  • Extracting and manipulating data from UMG royalty systems.
  • Preparation of data for external auditors.
  • Building & maintaining relationships with internal contacts for gathering information.
  • Producing data analysis for use in audit queries, audit claims and royalty reconciliations.
  • Liaising with the royalty teams to ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Conduct independent reviews of royalty statements for accuracy.
  • Resolution of ad hoc queries.

Skills and Experience Required

Must have

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel (v-lookups and pivot tables).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to think proactively to seek solutions.
  • Ability to meet deadlines quickly and accurately while managing competing priorities is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience working in a royalty related role.
  • An interest in music and the music industry.
  • A wider understanding of a finance function.
