The A Side: A Day in The Life
Fiction Records is a British record label founded in 1978, best known for being the home of The Cure for over 20 years. The London team is relatively small, but operates amongst a much larger global team as an Affiliate Label of Virgin Music Group.
As Label Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to learn about many aspects of the music business, working with a diverse and varied roster of artists across a number of genres. The role will have a marketing focus but ensure interaction with all areas, including Marketing, A&R, promotions, supply chain, production, and manufacturing.
It is a dynamic, varied and challenging role that requires nimbleness, openness to change and a confident communication manner.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting team(s) of marketing executives and project leads in their roles building and executing complex global artist campaigns
- New release scheduling - handling complex audio and video scheduling tasks and operations with multiple departments
- Help accurately maintaining the label’s digital, video and physical release schedules and ensuring these are communicated to relevant teams
- Learning key production processes, systems and reporting tools
- Maintaining the organisation and archiving of assets and deliverables
- Writing asset briefs and creating decks
- Assisting with the management of financial budgets and tracking
- Assistance with paying invoices and liaising with suppliers
- Delivery of secure music to label partners and media; generating secure links for these purposes
- Help scheduling meetings with wider teams and taking notes where necessary
- Updating contact databases and sheets
- Organising ticket buys and guest-list requests
- Organising couriers of promotional stock, merch items, etc.
- Assistance in maintaining and updating label and artist websites
- Ad hoc assistance with updating label’s social media accounts
- Supporting the team in the creation and delivery of artist promotional schedules, including booking travel and accommodation
- Occasional support on photo and video shoots
- Joining meetings, calls and social events to learn all aspects of this fast-paced and collaborative business
Person Specification
Necessary
- Highly organised with the ability to keep calm under pressure and think creatively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A desire to help and engage in campaigns proactively
- A fast learner with a desire to ask questions
- Basic experience with Photoshop and/or Canva for creating simple marketing assets, both static and video
- Ability to quickly learn internal systems and IT infrastructure
