The A Side: A Day in The Life

The role of the Digital Creative Producer / Editor is to work alongside the Head of Digital to drive the creative output for digital and short form content production. This includes but is not limited to AV content, social series, midform YT content, podcasts, branded content and marketing assets, creative decks. This role is responsible for leading and delivering digital productions end-to-end, with ownership of creative output, formats, and delivery across multiple platforms, in addition and where practical, there is opportunity to contribute to larger-scale Mercury Studios productions where required.

The B Side: Skills & Experience

  • Be Organised: Once creative concepts have been agreed upon, it is the role of the producer to plan and turn the concept into a reality with end-to-end oversight of all creative and delivery requirements, ensuring key production milestones are hit.
  • Liaising with creative partners, finding locations, booking crew, arranging kit hire, lighting approach, set design all in line with the overall budget parameters.
  • Be a point person for talent / talent management, responsible for conveying creative plans and clear outline of their involvement.
  • You will be required to research projects and manage rights checking, via internal systems, to ensure content is cleared for use as intended.
  • Work with the production team and legal team to ensure the relevant contracts and releases are obtained.
  • Post shoot it is your responsibility to deliver final assets on deadline and in full – either by editing yourself or working with internal or external editor teams as needed, in line with budget parameters and scheduled timings.
  • Asset management of final assets, working with our post production team to ensure projects are delivered and archived in the appropriate way.
  • Be Creative: Responsible for the ideation and development of digital first content, either independently or in collaboration with the wider Mercury team, driving the process through greenlight and on to execution and delivery.
  • Leading creative sessions and brainstorms and leading on creative strategy for digital and social content across all platforms such as YouTube, Shorts, Instagram and TikTok.
  • Demonstrable experience in self-shooting, directing and editing of shortform and midform formats.
  • Working closely with production teams and freelance crew on shoots, ensuring that artist is happy and creative vision is being executed to the level that is being expected.
  • On projects that aren’t shoot based you will be working with creative director / head of department and other appropriate team members to help deliver the creative, which could entail but is not limited to research gathering, working on feedback rounds and formats.
  • Be Administrative: Being a detail-oriented creative when it comes to approving work with overall accountability.
  • Having a good understanding of production costs/budgets and feeling comfortable negotiating and ensuring projects are delivered to an exceptional level representing a good spend of budgeted funds.
  • Experience producing shoots.
  • Creative network – relationships with Directors, DOPs, Gaffers, Editors, etc.
  • A good understanding of key digital and social platforms, and a strong sense of what creative assets work on each.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, quick turnaround environment.
  • Music industry a bonus but not essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with people at all levels within the business.
  • Flexible and able to prioritise own workload.
