Location: Farnborough, UK

Salary: Β£100,000 for full-time role; pro-rata for part-time role.

Job Type: Either part-time role of 2-3 days per week, 1 day in office with remaining days work from home. Or full-time role of 5 days per week, 2 days in office with remaining days work from home.

Start date: ASAP

Core Responsibilities

  • Contracts: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, vendor deals, and sales terms.
  • Compliance: Ensure company actions follow local, national, and international laws and industry regulations.
  • Risk Management: Identify business risks and advise executives on how to minimize legal exposure.
  • Outside Counsel Oversight: Manage outside law firms when the company engages in larger transactions/partnerships/other legal related matters that currently the management team deal.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: A recognized law degree from Europe/Australia/New Zealand.
  • Licensing: Valid licence to practice law in England and Wales.
  • Experience: Preference for candidates with life sciences industry experience whether gained from private practice or in-house, with a minimum of 7+ years of legal practice.

  • Business & Regulatory Acumen: Ability to translate complex legal & regulatory rules into practical business decisions; with ability to identify safe and justifiable limits of compliance.
  • Drafting Contracts: Ability to understand core business needs from a particular outsourced provider/partner, risks the company wants protection from, and practical solutions reflected in drafting proposed.
  • Communication: Clear writing and speaking skills to brief non-legal managers and executives.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to resolve hurdles quickly to enable commercial goals to be met without undue delay.
