Kingwood Pines Hospital is a 116 bed facility located in the beautiful residential Kingwood community, about 30 miles northeast of the Houston Medical Center. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency services and serves children, adolescents, and adults for psychiatric and behavioral health. It also offers intensive outpatient and partial hospital program services.
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse will provide nursing care for psychiatric patients, including child, adolescent, geriatric, and chemical dependency patients using the nursing process. Duties include:
- Assess mental health needs, develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and evaluate nursing care.
- Administer and/or monitor the effects and side effects of medications and treatments ordered by a physician.
- Ensure safety and provide milieu management and crisis intervention strategies.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to licensed vocational nurses, psychiatric technicians, and counselors.
- Direct milieu management.
- Provide assessment of patients’ psychiatric and medical status.
- Contribute to treatment plan as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
- Document nursing care, treatment, and patient’s response to treatment.
- Recognise signs and symptoms of mental health disorders and chemical dependency disorders and apply/utilise appropriate treatment interventions.
Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing (Associate's Degree) required; BSN preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas required.
- Minimum of one (1) year related experience required; psychiatric nursing experience is preferred.
- CPR and HWC Crisis Intervention training must be completed prior to beginning work.
