Havenwyck Hospital (a UHS facility) Branches of Auburn Hills is looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable, and compassionate clinician. Position Summary: The Outpatient Therapist will work with adults in the evening mental health Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) to help them overcome psychological and emotional issues that affect their daily functioning. The IOP Therapist will demonstrate the ability to perform group and individual therapy, formulate biopsychosocial assessments and treatment plans, and assist with discharge planning and community referrals. This role will work closely with the treatment team and the Director of Outpatient Services to provide effective, top-quality care for our patients and ensure patients’ treatment goals are met.
Duties:
- Participate as an integral member of a multidisciplinary treatment team led by a psychiatrist.
- Facilitate the therapeutic milieu of the programs.
- Receive notification of admission of patients and referrals for social work intervention.
- Perform social work interventions as directed by the treatment team, the treating psychiatrist, and/or the Director of Outpatient Services.
- Obtain and assess social history information and report to the treatment teams.
- Perform discharge planning as directed by the psychiatrist from the day of admission.
- Provide daily group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy and/or substance abuse group/didactic as deemed appropriate by the treatment team, the treating psychiatrist and the Director of Outpatient Services.
- Work a schedule tailored to the needs of the programs.
- Act as liaison for patients between the various community agencies and resources.
- Attend treatment team conferences and complete treatment plans, reviewing them with family members two times a week.
- Report periodically on the status of social work delivery to the Director of Outpatient Services.
- Receive clinical and administrative supervision from the Director of Outpatient Services.
- Facilitate referral for Special Education where indicated (Child/Adolescent Unit).
- Participate in the development of the Master Treatment Plan including measurable goals specific to parent-child/adolescent relationships (Child/Adolescent Unit).
- Identify alterations in sensory perceptual images, recognising the difference between illusion, delusion, and hallucination (Adult Unit).
- Facilitate patients through developmental tasks (Adult Unit).

Qualifications: Master of Social Work degree from a school of Social Work or Master of Arts in Counseling degree required. Current license in the State of Michigan as a Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor required. Employee must be in good standing (employment/corrective action history, performance evaluation, etc.) to be considered for an internal transfer.
