Summit Oaks Hospital is a 126‑bed, private acute care hospital and chemical dependency treatment center located in a picturesque suburban setting. Accredited by the Joint Commission, it has been providing quality health care to adults, children, and adolescents in northeastern USA since 1902. Summit Oaks has repeatedly been recognized in U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s best behavioral health hospitals.

The Mental Health Associate (MHA) position offers an ideal opportunity for an energetic, motivated individual with prior experience working with patients who have behavioral health or addictions diagnoses. The MHA functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, role modeling, and monitoring of patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics, depending on the nursing unit assigned. Nursing units include a 28‑bed adult psych unit, a 28‑bed adult dual diagnosis unit, a 22‑bed child and adolescent unit, a 24‑bed detox unit, and a 20‑bed rehab unit. Other MHA duties include taking vital signs, conducting educational groups, and responding to codes.

This is a full‑time, day shift position from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, three days per week, with alternating weekends.

Qualifications:

Mental Health Associate (MHA) Job Requirements:

  • B.S. in a health‑related field with one year of psychiatric experience, preferably in an inpatient setting; or two years of experience in a psychiatric setting with evidence of participation in continuing education related to mental health is preferred.
  • Psychiatric inpatient experience for adults, adolescents, and dual populations is preferred.
  • Must maintain CPR and First Aid, Verbal De‑escalation, and Handle with Care certifications, which will be provided by the hospital.
