Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services unit of UHS. IPM develops and manages multi-specialty physician networks and urgent care clinics which align with UHS acute care facilities. It also provides select services for the Behavioral Health division of UHS. Through continuing growth, IPM operates in 11 markets across six states and the District of Columbia. Independence Physician Management (IPM) is hiring a Manager, Revenue Cycle Practice Support that is responsible for leading and managing a team of Revenue Cycle Specialists that are working within each of the IPM Markets to drive consistency in front-end workflows and business processes that will help the Market maximize revenue and enhance patient satisfaction. Additionally, this role will act as a liaison between Market Practice Leadership and the Central Billing Office (CBO) to oversee tasks that will enhance the overall revenue cycle continuum.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs)/dashboards for the IPM Markets to identify trends, track results and identify opportunities for process improvement, enhanced performance and maximized reimbursement.
- Focus will be on front-end measures that will improve and accelerate revenue cycle processes to achieve higher productivity, faster payments, decreased rework, and improved patient services.
- Develops Market goals to support the business objectives established by IPM.
- Capture feedback from the Revenue Cycle Specialists and IPM CBO related to process gaps between the Markets and the CBO.
- Plan and coordinate process improvement efforts while driving standardization of workflows (best practices).
- Effectively communicate process change and solutions to CBO and Market stakeholders.
- Review and publish βfront-endβ revenue cycle metric results (e.g. copay collection, non-TOS collections, eligibility verification, denial analysis) to IPM CBO.
- Assist in focusing the Revenue Cycle Specialists on issues that will positively impact financial performance.
- Demonstrate excellent initiative and judgement. Work independently applying effective approaches to task prioritization, time management, delegation of tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Exhibit outstanding decision making and customer service.
- Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with direct reports to provide a structured time to provide coaching, discuss accomplishments and review the status of revenue cycle operations within their scope of responsibility.
- Discuss areas of professional development as well as goal tracking/reporting, projects, and other pertinent topics.
- Maintain comprehensive and concise documentation of the one-on-one sessions, next steps, and expectations.
- Promote accountability and ownership. Sets appropriate standards of performance and communicates clear expectations to the Revenue Cycle Specialists.
- Show direct and tangible evidence of coaching, mentoring and professional development.
- Responsible for the employment hiring process for Revenue Cycle Training and Support Department.
- Prepare well thought-out and meaningful performance appraisals for direct reports.
- Provide tangible examples of work performance/behaviors that are documented in the annual appraisal.
- Use the appraisal to both summarize performance as well as focus on opportunities for improvement and recognizing performance that exceeds expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred with a minimum of 5 - 8 years' experience working in a healthcare (professional) billing, health insurance, Coding or equivalent operations work environment.
- Minimum 3-5 years of direct supervisory or managerial experience required.
- Healthcare (professional) billing, knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding, claim submission requirements, remittances, insurance credit and refunds.
- Thorough understanding of the revenue cycle and how the various components work together.
- Service excellence, and recruiting, training, leading and performance management of staff.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, and other office procedures and terminology.
- Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications.
- Proficient in mainframe billing software (e.g., Cerner, Epic, IDX).
- Up to 25% travel.
