Three Trails Hospital in Independence, MO is actively hiring a Director of Performance Improvement and Risk Management to ensure the hospital’s compliance at all times with all Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulatory agencies standards and requirements.
As a member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Performance Improvement and Risk Management will:
- Provide staff training and education on the hospital’s performance initiatives and measures including outcomes measurement and reporting.
- Ensure appropriate and timely reporting of occurrences by maintaining a Healthcare Peer Review Reporting system (Occurrence notification system); enters incidents into the MIDAS Database.
- Network with department directors to implement system changes aimed at optimally reducing or eliminating causative factors.
- Develop and implement a Performance Improvement Plan, evaluate the results monthly and report the results to the PI Committee.
- Ensure that all deficiencies identified through the Performance Improvement analysis are addressed with appropriate problem‑solving actions.
- Conduct/facilitate in‑services to educate employees and physicians.
Three Trails Behavioral Hospital will:
- Serve children and adolescents, adults and seniors with innovative and evidence‑based inpatient behavioral healthcare focused on individual needs and comfort.
- Create more than 200 new, full‑time jobs including nurses, clinicians, therapists, technicians and administrative staff, when the facility is fully operational.
- Be located at the intersection of I‑70 and Little Blue Parkway, adjacent to the Children’s Mercy Hospital Outpatient Clinics.
- Feature 120 licensed beds ready to meet the mental health needs of the surrounding community.
- Span more than 88,000 square feet, and will include an activity yard and gym.

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required. Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university in nursing, or related health field is preferred. Master’s Degree preferred. Combination of education and experience considered.
- Experience: Four (4) years of experience in quality and risk management/improving organizational performance within an acute medical or psychiatric treatment setting.
- Additional Requirements: A strong knowledge of JOINT COMMISSION, state of Missouri standards, CMS standards, and any other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.
