Canyon Creek Behavioral Health is a 102-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in Temple, Texas. We are enthusiastic about providing compassionate health care from our team here at Canyon Creek Behavioral Health.
Position Summary
Responsible for the timely processing of inquiry and referral calls. Responsible for coordination of all admissions processes and serves as liaison to referral sources, families, payors, physicians, unit and hospital personnel involved with each admission. Verify insurance, triage patients, complete assessments, ability to staff clinical effectively, enter calls and admissions in computer and complete all admission paperwork with patient. Effectively communicate with unit staff and assist patient to unit. Pre-cert with payor source. Follow hospital’s policies and procedures regarding admissions.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, health care team members and community providers.
- Assess and identify developmental and behavioral functioning of the patient.
- Document patient responses.
- Effectively employ principles of communication, interviewing techniques, problem solving and crisis intervention when performing intake assessments.

Qualifications
Required: Graduate of accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor Degree;
Preferred: Master’s Degree
Required: Minimum of one (1) year in the area of substance abuse/psychiatric treatment programs,
Preferred: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in psychiatric treatment; previous experience in intake/admissions and managed care.
Working knowledge of DSM‑V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and addiction and recovery field.
Required: Registered Nurse with active license and able to work in the state of Texas
Additional Requirements: CPR certification, Handle with Care and Verbal De‑Escalation training within 30 days of employment prior to assisting in a restraining procedure. Training will be offered during new hire orientation. May be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
