Opportunity Details McAllen Hospitalist Group is seeking Physician Assistants (PA) to join our growing hospital medicine team. Schedule: 7am – 7pm, 2 weeks on/2 weeks off, 180 shifts a year. South Texas Health System Clinics is an integrated system of care comprising six hospitals, several freestanding emergency rooms, multiple physician practices, and a broad range of outpatient services. Responsibilities Manage inpatient hospital patients through duties such as rounding, admissions, and discharges. Assess patients\’ physical and mental conditions via examinations and medical histories. Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests. Prescribe and recommend medications and therapeutic procedures according to protocols, ensuring efficacy and safety. Suggest interventions to modify health-related behaviors. Develop and implement comprehensive, outcomes-based treatment plans collaboratively with physicians and team members. Evaluate patient responses and the effectiveness of care provided. Counsel patients and families on medical processes, management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion. Discuss drug regimens and potential side effects with patients. Maintain detailed records of treatment plans and outcomes. Initiate timely consultations and referrals when necessary. Provide consultation services related to the PA’s specialty and training.
