The Infection Control Nurse is a key member of Dover Behavioral Health System who will lead the infection control and employee health programs with a keen focus on patient care and employee wellness.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:- Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and Medical Director, responsible for patient and employee illnesses and monitors infections.
- Serve as a key member of the hospital infection control committee, as well as deliver infection control metrics and data to the Management Team, Quality Council, Patient Safety Committee and other facility committees.
- Ensure that all employees are in compliance with required screenings and infection control educations.
- Maintain the Flu and COVID programs for the facility.
- Meet all Joint Commission, CMS, state and local regulatory requirements and present during audits and surveys.
- Communicate with referral sources and family members in the patients' interest, complying with all HIPAA and patient rights standards and policies.
- Develop, implement, update and enforce the hospital's infection control policies and procedures.
- Conduct infection control related training sessions, and develop a system to ensure staff are receiving annual training and stay abreast of industry changes.
- Facilitate company wide and nursing department orientation; Identify competency of staff and provide follow-up action to remedy deficiencies related to infection control.
- Conduct environmental tours of the facility to ensure facility is meeting infection control standards.
- Registered Nurse License with relevant Bachelor’s degree.
- APIC certification when eligible.
- One year clinical experience with a psychiatric mental health population and 2 years' experience in Infection Control preferred.
