Dover Behavioral Health System is a 104-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in the beautiful Dover, Delaware area. Dover Behavioral Health System features individual units for adolescents and adults and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. On average, over 10,000 patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Dover Behavioral Health System. We are seeking candidates for our Activity Therapist opening to deliver high quality life skills and leisure activity programs for patients based on appropriate developmental, social, and emotional stages of each patient.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Develop and deliver therapeutic programs for patients and make treatment recommendations that are individualized to circumstances and needs of each patient in conjunction with interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Effectively contribute to the discharge planning of patients.
  • Collaborate with clinical management on scheduling activity therapy sessions based on patient and hospital needs.
  • Will oversee and monitor Activity therapy patient care programs and treatment outcomes.
  • Provide individual and/or group evaluation in treatment sessions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Recreational Therapy or related field.
  • Experience in clinical interviewing and knowledge of the concept and philosophy of Activity Therapy in the treatment process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a Recreational Therapy or related field.
  • One year experience in a psychiatric or substance abuse facility.
