A brand-new opportunity within the water & wastewater sector. We're recruiting on behalf of an established and growing business that works closely with organisations across the UK water and wastewater utility sector. As part of the continued development of its commercial team, the business is creating a brand-new Appointment Setter role for someone who is proactive, commercially minded and motivated by hitting targets and, most importantly, seeing the external Sales Representative(s) succeed and thrive out on the road.
Your role will be to capitalise on existing relationships, make regular outbound calls, identify opportunities and, most importantly, book quality appointments that keep the external Sales Representatives' diaries full. The main KPI is to book 12 customer meetings per week, typically requiring around 30-50 outbound contacted calls per week. Approximately 70% of the contacts you'll be working with are existing CRM contacts, meaning connect rates are good and most people will already have some awareness of the business.
The objective is to provide the Sales Representatives with a consistent schedule of quality customer meetings, allowing them to spend 3-4 days a week out on the road developing opportunities and generating business. This is a results-focused role where activity, consistency and performance matter. You'll take ownership of your calling activity, follow-ups and appointment bookings, directly contributing to the success of the wider commercial team. This isn't a traditional Account Manager or customer service role; your priority is to turn conversations into worthwhile sales appointments.
What you'll be doing:
- Making regular outbound calls and sending emails to existing customers and contacts to generate opportunities and book appointments.
- Working towards the target of 12 meetings booked per week, managing your activity and follow-ups to achieve agreed KPIs.
- Keeping the Sales Representatives' diaries consistently filled with quality, relevant customer meetings.
- Following up contacts, handling objections and converting conversations into confirmed appointments.
- Identifying the right people within customer organisations for the Sales Representatives to meet.
- Qualifying opportunities to ensure appointments are relevant and aligned with the Sales team's priorities.
- Proactively identifying gaps in the Sales Representatives' diaries and planning who needs contacting to fill them.
- Working closely with the Sales team to understand target accounts, commercial priorities and appointment requirements.
- Coordinating meetings and ensuring the Sales Representatives have the relevant information before visiting customers.
- Maintaining accurate CRM records of calls, conversations, follow-ups and booked appointments.
- Monitoring your activity and appointment pipeline, identifying where further calls or follow-ups are needed to achieve targets.
- Sharing customer feedback and potential opportunities with the wider commercial team.
Requirements:
We're looking for someone who is confident on the phone, highly organised and motivated by achieving measurable results. You'll enjoy making outbound calls, following up opportunities and asking for the meeting, with the resilience and persistence to turn activity into results. You may have experience in appointment setting, telesales, telemarketing, lead generation, sales support, customer service or a similar role. Experience working towards call or appointment targets would be particularly valuable.
You’ll need:
- A target-driven mindset and the motivation to achieve your weekly appointment target.
- Confidence and resilience when making regular outbound calls.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional, persuasive telephone manner.
- The ability to turn conversations into booked appointments and handle objections confidently.
- A proactive approach to managing calls, follow-ups and your appointment pipeline.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to qualify opportunities and understand what makes a worthwhile sales appointment.
- Good CRM and administrative discipline.
- The ability to work closely with the Sales Representatives and respond to changing priorities.
- A commercial mindset, understanding how your work contributes to sales opportunities and business growth.
Above all, you're motivated by hitting your targets while knowing your work directly sets the external team up to win. You are a great enabler, and love the challenge of keeping calendars packed, coordinating the moving parts, and setting up the external reps with quality meetings to help grow the business.
Benefits:
- £35,000 - £40,000 salary, depending on experience.
- Quarterly profit share bonus scheme.
- Free daily lunch provided at the office.
- Company vehicle or car allowance.
- Option to purchase up to 5 additional days of holiday.
- The opportunity to help shape a brand-new appointment-setting function.
- A collaborative commercial environment where your contribution can make a genuine difference.
Why this opportunity?
This is an opportunity to join an established and growing business with strong customer relationships across the water and wastewater utility sector. With much of the initial door-opening already done, you'll have an established network of customers and CRM contacts to work with. Your focus will be on making calls, following up opportunities and converting conversations into quality appointments. You'll play a key role in ensuring experienced Sales Representatives spend more time meeting customers and developing business, rather than trying to fill their own diaries. If you're commercially minded, motivated by targets, confident on the phone and enjoy turning activity into measurable results, this could be an excellent opportunity for you.
