The Opportunity:

A growing specialist supplier to the M&E sector is looking to appoint a Technical Design & Projects Coordinator to support its engineering function. This is not a sales role. Instead, you'll become the technical hub between the sales team, customers, CAD resources and fabrication partners, helping turn engineering enquiries into practical, deliverable solutions.

You'll take project information from the sales team and be responsible for developing drawings, reviewing designs, coordinating external CAD support where required, and ensuring technical specifications are translated into accurate manufacturing and installation solutions. This role would suit someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working with drawings and coordinating projects behind the scenes rather than being involved in new business sales.

The Role:

Reporting into the Sales Director, you'll play a key role in supporting engineering enquiries and ensuring projects move smoothly from concept through to manufacture and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce and amend technical drawings using CAD software
  • Interpret customer requirements, sketches and specifications
  • Support the sales team with technical input on engineering enquiries
  • Work closely with external CAD providers and fabrication suppliers
  • Review drawings and ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
  • Coordinate the design and drawing approval process
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure projects are delivered to specification
  • Assist with project tracking and technical documentation
  • Identify any design issues and propose practical solutions
  • Support occasional site visits when technical input is required
  • Act as the internal technical point of contact for engineering-related enquiries

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience within Building Services, MEP, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit or similar design software
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Understanding of fabrication, pipework, bracketry, support systems or mechanical installations would be highly beneficial
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Comfortable communicating with suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders
  • A practical problem solver who enjoys technical challenges

Ideal Backgrounds:

We would be particularly interested in candidates from backgrounds such as:

  • Building Services Design Engineer
  • Mechanical Design Engineer
  • CAD Technician
  • Revit Technician
  • MEP Coordinator
  • Mechanical Project Engineer
  • Technical Engineer
  • Design Draughtsperson

Why Apply?

  • Genuine technical role with minimal sales responsibility
  • Opportunity to work on a variety of bespoke engineering projects
  • Mix of CAD design, technical coordination and project support
  • Stable office-based position with long-term growth potential
  • Chance to become a key part of a growing engineering function
  • Work closely with experienced sales and operational teams to bring projects from concept through to delivery

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically-minded individual who enjoys working with drawings, solving engineering problems and coordinating projects behind the scenes, without the pressure of front-line sales targets.
