Location: Office-based in Lincolnshire (with regular UK-wide client site visits)

A specialist UK manufacturer within the fluid handling and wastewater treatment sector is seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Business Development Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join a consistently growing business that supports industries including food manufacturing, water compliance, and chemical processing.
The role is suited to someone with a strong technical sales background in wastewater treatment or liquid handling systems, and who enjoys combining office-based work with regular client visits.
The Role:
Working as part of the industrial sales team, this position will involve developing new opportunities, nurturing existing accounts, and re-engaging lapsed customers. The focus will be on project-driven industries such as food manufacturing, where managing wastewater from hygiene processes before discharge is critical, as well as working with clients who need compliance support with water discharge regulations.
This is a varied role combining office and field-based responsibilities and would suit someone who thrives on customer interaction and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Visit client sites to understand requirements and recommend tailored technical solutions
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing, lapsed, and prospective customers
- Generate new business across sectors requiring wastewater and effluent management
- Provide guidance to customers around discharge regulation and water compliance
- Work alongside marketing on product promotions and campaign activity
- Attend industry exhibitions and trade shows to develop new contacts
- Maintain accurate CRM records and produce detailed quotations via ERP system
- Liaise internally to ensure successful handover and project delivery
Requirements
- Background in wastewater treatment, water compliance, or chemical/industrial liquid handling
- Experience in B2B sales or business development roles
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong understanding of fluid handling in regulated industries such as food manufacturing
- Self-starter with the ability to manage a flexible and mobile role
- Familiarity with CRM tools and quoting systems preferred
- Willing to travel regularly within the UK
- £40,000 – £60,000 salary depending on experience
