The opportunity: As a Senior Technical Product Manager at Unity, you'll join the Platforms product team, where you'll be responsible for our console platforms and media framework. You'll define the product features and roadmaps that bring value to Unity and our developers, drawing on a deep technical understanding of these platforms to shape where they go next. You'll be embedded with our engineering teams, providing insight into customer usage, demand for shipped features, features in development, and future areas of growth. Your work keeps Unity's solutions market-leading and makes full use of what these platforms offer.
What you'll be doing:
- Own the relationship between Unity's engine and our console platform ecosystems. This means tracking platform SDK updates, managing the roadmap for platform-specific features, and making sure Unity meets the technical requirements developers need to pass first-party certification.
- Own Unity's audio and video backend capabilities, with a focus on codec and container support across the full content pipeline, from import and transcode in the Editor through to build and runtime playback on supported platforms.
- Work with internal teams, end users, and external hardware partners to discover user needs, define and map current and future product requirements, validate technology in development, and keep developers unblocked as platform requirements shift.
- Extract, analyze, and visualize quantitative and qualitative data to drive and validate development and user-experience decisions in an unbiased way.
- Work with Engineering, Program Management, and Product Design to establish and complete roadmaps that enhance our product offerings, and partner with Product Marketing on go-to-market plans for releases and cross-promotional opportunities with our partners.
What we're looking for:
- A proven technical product manager with a background in game development and a track record of feature development and delivery.
- A solid technical background in console game development, with deep insight into the console publishing process.
- Strong product leadership, with demonstrated user empathy and data-driven decision-making.
- Strong technical communication skills. You can translate customer feedback and requests into the underlying needs and deeper goals behind them, and explain sophisticated concepts clearly to non-technical partners.
- Strong analytical skills and experience working with data analysis tools.
You might also have:
- Experience with media or content pipelines, including audio/video codecs, container formats, transcoding, or runtime playback.
- Experience shipping Unity games to console platforms.
- Hands-on experience integrating platform features or submitting titles to platform certification.
