The opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Technical Product Manager with extensive prior experience in a hands‑on game development role to join our Engine Product team. You will play a pivotal role in defining product requirements with technical input on customer need, value, measurability, as well as the ability to use and demonstrate product in a hands‑on fashion. In this high‑impact role, you will define and execute the roadmap of the authoring features in the Unity Engine, shaping how creators use our tools to build the games and experiences of the future. You will define product strategy with a technical point of view grounded in a direct understanding of customer requirements while ensuring the product vision aligns with business priorities, user needs, and technical feasibility.

What you’ll be doing

  • Define and own a product vision, strategy, and roadmap that is informed by technical product expertise, customer feedback from Unity Studio Productions and Customer Success organizations, Production Verification, market research, user feedback, and competitive analysis.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with Engineering counterparts to lead product areas hand‑in‑hand. You will drive feature delivery across disparate teams, clearing roadblocks and aligning priorities.
  • Partner with stakeholders (e.g. Engineering, Quality, Design, Documentation, Program Management) to identify business goals, user needs, and technical requirements.
  • Prioritize product features and improvements based on a mix of data and user feedback from key external partners and our wider development community.
  • Collaborate with other product team members to ensure solid cross‑product integration and minimization of redundant feature code.
  • Facilitate customer feedback loops to refine and improve the product by iteratively adding customer value.
  • Hands‑on tests and demos to understand requirements and proposed solutions, verify deliveries, and showcase delivered features to customers, users, and partners.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience shipping games as a developer, ideally in Unity, Unreal, or proprietary game engines.
  • Deep technical expertise and the ability to evaluate complex technology stacks that cross multiple systems and platforms (i.e. game engines, cloud services, and external APIs).
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a proven track record of effectively simplifying and articulating complex technical concepts to a wide range of audiences, from engineers to senior executives.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross‑functional teams without direct authority, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
  • Strong skills in roadmap planning, feature prioritization, and stakeholder management.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration capabilities to bring teams together as we drive towards common goals and priorities.

You might also have

  • Technical understanding of game engine architecture, feature development, and the developer experience.
  • Expertise in high performance programming with languages such as C# or C++.
  • Storytelling and visual presentation abilities to distill sophisticated topics into clear and concise communications.
  • Willingness to travel (up to 25% at peak times).
