We are seeking a Senior Technical Product Manager with prior experience in a hands‑on game development role to join our Engine Product team. You will play a pivotal role in defining product requirements with technical input on customer need, value, measurability, as well as the ability to use and demonstrate product in a hands‑on fashion. This role will be focused on the user experience of the Unity engine’s authoring features, helping to identify and implement usability improvements across Unity’s Editor, Hub and beyond.
What you'll be doing:
- Working across the Unity engine, hub and other user touchpoints to identify and implement improvements to workflows, usability and improve the user experience.
- Cultivating strong relationships with Engineering counterparts to lead product areas hand‑in‑hand.
- Driving feature delivery across disparate teams, clearing roadblocks and aligning priorities.
- Partnering with stakeholders (e.g. Engineering, Quality, Design, Documentation, Program Management) to identify business goals, user needs, and technical requirements.
- Prioritising product features and improvements based on a mix of data and user feedback from key external partners and our wider development community.
- Collaborating with other product team members to ensure solid cross‑product integration and minimisation of redundant feature code.
- Facilitating customer feedback loops to refine and improve the product by iteratively adding customer value.
- Conducting hands‑on tests and demos to understand requirements and proposed solutions, verify deliveries, and showcase delivered features to customers, users, and partners.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience working in Unity, ideally as a game developer.
- Technical expertise and the ability to evaluate complex technology stacks that cross multiple systems and platforms (i.e. game engines, cloud services, and external APIs).
- Proven experience and knowledge of UX flows, with an ability to understand and improve on how users engage with software & UI.
- Strong product management experience, having led technical product delivery of high‑impact features or projects, along with strong data and research skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, with a proven track record of effectively simplifying and articulating complex technical concepts to a wide range of audiences, from engineers to executives.
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross‑functional teams without direct authority, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
- Strong skills in roadmap planning, feature prioritisation, and stakeholder management.
- Cross‑functional collaboration capabilities to bring teams together as we drive towards common goals and priorities.
You might also have:
- Technical understanding of game engine architecture, feature development, and the developer experience.
- Expertise in high performance programming with languages such as C# or C++.
- Storytelling and visual presentation abilities to distill sophisticated topics into clear and concise communications.
- Willingness to travel (up to 25% at peak times).
