Training Specialist – Diagnostics / Point of Care (Field-Based, Scotland)

  • Contract Type: Contract (initial 6 months, potential extension up to 12 months)
  • Start Date: February 2026
  • Right to Work: Full UK RTW required (no sponsorship)

Location

  • Field-based across Scotland
  • Must be based in Scotland, ideally with easy access to NHS Lanarkshire and Greater Glasgow hospital sites
  • Regular regional travel required, including overnight stays and occasional unsocial hours

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Training Specialist to join a field-based Near Patient Care / Point of Care Diagnostics training team within Technical Services. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, face-to-face clinical and technical training to healthcare professionals across multiple NHS Trusts in Scotland.

The Training Specialist will support the implementation and adoption of blood glucose, ketone, and point-of-care diagnostic solutions, ensuring customers are confident, compliant, and fully supported throughout product rollouts and upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

  • Training Delivery & Education
  • Deliver, document, and record in-person product training in line with internal quality and compliance standards
  • Provide structured and customised training programmes tailored to clinical workflows and patient pathways
  • Support new product launches, upgrades, and system implementations
  • Customer & Field Support
    • Act as a key training and technical support contact for NHS customers
    • Respond to training-related queries, including basic troubleshooting and workflow guidance
    • Provide on-site support during hardware and software implementations
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Work closely with internal technical, commercial, and service teams
    • Build strong relationships with clinicians, nurses, laboratory staff, and hospital stakeholders
    • Maintain accurate training records and feedback to support continuous improvement
    • Scientific or clinical background with hands-on experience in a healthcare or medical setting
    • Proven experience delivering face-to-face training to healthcare professionals
    • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
    • Ability to work independently in a field-based role with extensive regional travel
    • Excellent time management, organisation, and decision-making abilities
    • Based in Scotland with the ability to easily access NHS Lanarkshire and Glasgow sites
    • Full UK (or equivalent) driving licence
    • Fluent written and spoken English
    • Valid passport for potential training travel
    • Degree-level education or equivalent
    • Nursing or clinical care background
    • Experience working within NHS hospital or primary/secondary care environments
    • Experience with diagnostics, point-of-care testing, or medical device systems
    • Hands-on troubleshooting or on-site technical support experience
    • Knowledge of quality assurance, analytical systems, and customer relationship tools
    • Experience working in a regulated or multicultural healthcare environment

    Ideal Candidate Profile

    You will be a Scotland-based clinical or technical trainer with NHS exposure who is confident delivering in-person training across multiple hospital sites. You are comfortable working in a customer-facing, field-based role and supporting implementations in live clinical environments.

    • Candidates not based in Scotland
    • Lab-only, office-based, or purely academic profiles
    • Individuals without healthcare, NHS, or clinical training experience
    • Candidates without a driving licence or unable to commit to regular travel and unsocial hours
