About the Role: We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Technical Event Manager with a strong background in designing and delivering exhibition booths at major scientific congresses and pharmaceutical trade shows across Europe and globally. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical event production, client collaboration, and project management within highly regulated industries like pharma, biotech, and life sciences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end technical planning, production, and on-site delivery of custom-built exhibition stands for global life sciences events.
- Translate client briefs into detailed technical build specifications, integrating AV, lighting, rigging, digital media, and interactive technologies.
- Collaborate closely with Account Managers, Design Teams, Production Vendors, and Pharma Compliance Teams to deliver congress-ready solutions.
- Manage technical elements such as floor plans, CAD layouts, Wi-Fi infrastructure, LED walls, and virtual/hybrid event integrations.
- Conduct site visits, liaise with venues, and ensure compliance with health & safety, GDPR, ABPI, and pharma industry codes of conduct.
- Monitor budgets, build schedules, and risk assessments, ensuring seamless delivery across multiple concurrent events.
- Maintain strong relationships with global suppliers and ensure high standards of technical execution, quality control, and client satisfaction.
- Provide on-site technical leadership during setup, live operations, and breakdown phases at congresses and exhibitions.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in technical event management, specifically within pharma/life sciences exhibitions.
- Proven track record delivering custom exhibition booths at medical congresses, industry expos, or scientific trade shows.
- Deep understanding of AV technology, rigging, interactive displays, lighting systems, and live/hybrid platforms.
- Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards (ABPI, EFPIA, GDPR) and regulated event environments.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple builds simultaneously across geographies.
- Experience using CAD software, technical drawings, and project management tools.
- Exceptional communicator with strong stakeholder and client-facing skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally for onsite delivery (congresses often in EU/US/ME).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Event Management, Technical Production, or related field.
- Experience working with major pharma brands, medical device companies, or biotech firms.
- Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.
