Procurement Manager – Clinical Laboratories (Contract)

Location: Welwyn, Hertfordshire (Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite)

Start Date: End of August 2026

We’re supporting a leading global organisation within the life sciences sector in the search for an experienced Procurement Manager – Clinical Laboratories to join their Global Procurement team on a 12‑month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a strategic procurement function, supporting research and development activities while driving sourcing excellence across Clinical Laboratory categories.

The Role

As a Procurement Manager, you’ll be responsible for delivering strategic sourcing initiatives across Clinical Laboratories, working closely with internal stakeholders and procurement teams to develop sourcing strategies, manage suppliers, negotiate contracts, and optimise spend.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead strategic sourcing and category management activities across Clinical Laboratory spend.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Manage supplier relationships and lead commercial negotiations.
  • Support contract management and procurement governance.
  • Conduct market analysis and identify cost optimisation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver procurement projects and improve customer experience.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with relevant R&D and regulatory requirements.

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Business, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years' experience in strategic procurement, sourcing, or category management.
  • Strong supplier management and contract negotiation experience.
  • Experience with procurement systems and procurement processes.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Laboratory categories such as:
    • Genomics & Genetics
    • Bioanalytics
    • Soluble Biomarkers
    • Flow Cytometry
    • Histopathology
    • Central Laboratories
  • Understanding of R&D procurement and regulated environments (including GCP).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO procurement experience.
  • Knowledge of adjacent R&D procurement categories.
