Opportunity Unity Studio is our cutting‑edge, browser‑based real‑time 3D authoring tool. While our current focus is on non‑gaming use cases, our ambitious vision is to evolve Studio into a universal, web‑based collaboration hub for any Unity Project. We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the talented team bringing Unity Projects directly to the web browser.

What Success Looks Like In This Role

  • Short‑term: Rapidly establishing trust with your engineering team, streamlining current agile workflows, and ensuring reliable, high‑quality releases for our live product.
  • Long‑term: Successfully scaling the platform's architecture to support comprehensive web‑based collaboration for all Unity projects, and fostering a resilient, high‑performance engineering culture.

What you’ll be doing

  • Act as the vital bridge between Product Management, Design, cross‑functional Unity teams, and the Studio engineers to ensure clear communication and strategic alignment.
  • Champion technical excellence by orchestrating collaboration on the Studio codebase, guiding architectural decisions, overseeing PR reviews, and managing a streamlined release process.
  • Balance product velocity with platform health by actively listening to the development team and translating technical pain points into actionable roadmaps.
  • Drive engineering execution by optimizing agile methodologies, unblocking developers, and ensuring the predictable delivery of high‑quality features.
  • Foster a high‑performance, supportive culture by mentoring and coaching your team, actively guiding their professional development and career growth.

What we’re looking for

  • Demonstrated experience managing full‑stack engineering teams, with the ability to rapidly build trust, mentor engineers, and foster a high‑performance, supportive engineering culture.
  • Hands‑on experience optimizing agile workflows and managing reliable, high‑quality release cycles while simultaneously balancing live product stability with long‑term research initiatives and familiarity with full‑stack development, and architectural decision‑making, with the ability to guide reviews and drive sound technical decisions.
  • Ability to act as a bridge between Engineering, Product Management, Design, and cross‑functional teams, translating complex technical challenges into clear, actionable roadmaps.
  • Experience scaling platform architecture to support ambitious, long‑term goals, with a passion for shaping the future of web‑based collaboration tools and empowering developer communities at scale.

You might also have

  • Experience working in larger companies, acting as the interface with other teams and external partners.
  • Experience with the Unity Editor and its ecosystem, with an understanding of how projects are structured, built, and iterated upon.
