The Documentation team at Unity is growing. We are looking for university students with excellent writing skills, a natural curiosity for exploring and understanding technical concepts, and someone who wants to get hands-on with Unity to join the Documentation team.

As a technical writer intern, you will work with developers who make some of the latest Unity features, and translate what they make into valuable user documentation that is seen by millions of people who use Unity. There is a lot of scope to help our users, by using their feedback from the Unity Forums, Twitter and the User Manual website to improve our documentation and explain and demystify highly technical problems.

We will support you in forming good working relationships with developers across the globe, and you will be mentored by the Documentation team, which is made up of developers and writers alike, to produce great documentation that simplifies, explains, and empowers users to get the most from Unity products.

This position is an 11 month paid internship, starting in summer 2026 and based in Brighton.

What you will be doing:

  • Work closely with Unity's development teams across the world
  • Research and document new features and workflows in time for release
  • Empathise with users and provide them with information to help them achieve their goals
  • Understand problems that result from poor documentation, so you can improve our existing content and help users
  • Work with writers and editors to ensure your documentation is as clear, concise, accurate, and usable as possible

What we are looking for:

  • You must currently be studying at an undergraduate level and looking for a placement year
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Great computing skills and a passion for technologies
  • A skill for analysing problems into their component parts
  • Ability to manage your time well and prioritise effectively

You might also have:

  • Passion for games and any experience of Unity or 3D game development
  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages, game development, digital artistry, or real-time 3D development
  • Experience with source control software such as Git or Subversion to manage file changes across versions

Additional information:

  • Relocation support is not available for this position
  • Work visa/immigration sponsorship is not available for this position
