Our platform teams build the technology that enables our industry-leading multiplatform support and allows our users to create once and ship anywhere. We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our platform systems team who will help build and maintain our core Linux platform support. You’ll work on a broad range of low-level engine systems, developing and maintaining the tech that underpins our Linux targets, including SteamOS and exciting new partnerships leveraging Cloud technology.

You’ll be part of an agile team collaborating with other groups across Unity. While this role focuses on Linux, there will be opportunities to contribute to other platforms that Unity supports and develop your skills and knowledge in new areas. With your help Unity’s platform support will continue to grow and enable developers to reach even bigger audiences!

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing & maintaining our core Linux platform support
  • Ensuring stability by investigating and resolving bug reports
  • Strengthening quality and delivery through automated testing and thoughtful code reviews
  • Working with Product, Program Management, Engineering and QA teams to bring new engine features to Linux platforms

What we’re looking for:

  • Proficiency with C++ development and software engineering
  • Experience developing on Linux desktop distributions
  • The ability to debug, diagnose and solve problems throughout a codebase
  • An understanding of profiling and optimisation methods

You might also have:

  • Experience with SteamOS
  • Experience developing with Unity and C#
  • Automated Testing experience

Base Salary Range: We determine the base salary range for this role based on your primary work location: Zone A: £42,900 - £64,300 GBP gross. This range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position. Beyond base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in our company incentive plans (such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions). The final offer amount will depend on several factors, including geographic location and the candidate’s relevant experience, professional background, and skill set.
