High Voltage Electrician Location: Nationwide (Our office is based in Ystalyfera, Swansea, South Wales) Competitive Salary (Based on Experience)

We’re a fast-growing, hands-on company delivering high voltage infrastructure projects across the UK, and we’re looking for an experienced HV Electrician to join our close-knit and supportive team. If you’re a qualified electrician with strong HV experience who takes pride in working safely, efficiently, and to a high standard — this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

About the Role: As a High Voltage Electrician, you’ll be responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance, and fault finding of HV and LV electrical systems on substations and grid-connected sites, typically operating at voltages from LV up to 400kV. You’ll work across a variety of projects, including:

  • Grid Connections
  • Battery Energy Storage Schemes (BESS)
  • Solar Farm Developments
  • Private Industrial HV Networks

Duties will include:

  • Installation, termination, and testing of LV cables
  • Wiring, glanding, and containment installation
  • Installation of switchgear, transformers, protection panels, and Substation Ancillary Equipment
  • Fault finding and diagnostic testing on HV/LV systems
  • Supporting commissioning activities alongside SAPs and Commissioning Engineers
  • Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Carrying out earthing and bonding works
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in line with current regulations and strict safety procedures

Essential Qualifications & Certifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation / Engineering
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
  • ECS/CSCS/CCNSG/EUSR Card
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Manual Handling, First Aid, Asbestos Awareness, and Working at Height (current or willing to obtain)

Desirable:

  • MEWP/IPAF or PASMA Certification
  • Confined Spaces Training
  • HV Authorisation (if applicable)

Required Experience & Expertise:

  • 3+ years’ experience working in HV environments
  • Experience working on substations or grid-connected sites
  • Strong understanding of safe isolation and HV safety procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience working with DNO/IDNO/ICP and/or private HV networks (advantageous)
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
