As Tendering Engineer for the Unity Power Ltd Portfolio, you will have the opportunity to make an impact and maximise UPL’s Energy Transition and Private Network market potential and opportunity, preparing accurate, commercially viable Proposals for HV Substations, Networks, and Renewable Energy Infrastructure.

In this role you will build and develop your sales and technical skillset and liaise with potential Clients to secure business, agreeing on the scope of work, preparing Pre-Qualification Questionnaire responses, Estimates and Tender Returns, whilst interfacing with our Operations, Delivery, Procurement and Finance Commercial teams. With ongoing training you will support our Business Strategy Director in the implementation of the Sales and Marketing strategies and oversee allocated Sales and Tendering activities to drive sales and increase our market shares.

Key Accountabilities

  • Analysing Client Tender Documents, Specifications, and Drawings to identify the FULL Project / Framework scope and commercial opportunities.
  • Formulate precise technical Substation Designs and Primary Plant Specifications on 11kV to 275kV Networks.
  • Co-ordinate Electrical, Civil, and Structural Engineering disciplines to ensure seamless technical integration on Projects.
  • Review Project Plans & Studies to propose Value-Engineered alternatives and competitive value propositions.
  • Develop accurate Costings, BOMs (Bills of Materials), and Price Estimates in conjunction with the Operations Delivery Team.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and manage Commercial and Technical Risks within the Tender Offer.
  • Supplier Engagement, including analysing, and negotiating quotations from specialist Sub-Contractors and Equipment Suppliers.
  • Manage direct communications with the Client during Pre and Post-Tender stages, including handling Tender Clarification Queries.
  • Attending and leading Post-Tender Meetings and Bid Presentations to represent Unity Power's Technical and Commercial stance.
  • Ensure all Bid submissions are fully compliant, highly competitive, and submitted into the respective submittal portals on time.
  • Support in analysing specific Contract Terms and Conditions prior to Award and Contract Finalisation.
  • Preparation of Project Handover Documentation and to facilitate briefings so that successful Tenders are transferred smoothly to the UPL Project Delivery Teams.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Electrical & Technical Knowledge with a solid understanding of HV and LV Distribution Networks (ranging from 11kV up to 132kV), Switchgear, Transformers, and Renewable/BESS/Solar/Hydro/Wind/Tidal Infrastructure.
  • Ability to develop cost models, control budgets, identify commercial risks, and build competitive ‘Pricing Strategies’.
  • Proficient in interpreting Engineering Drawings, managing delivery schedules, and utilising software such as MS Project and MS Office Tools.
  • Strong Stakeholder Management and Customer Service Skills to liaise with Clients, Developers, Technical Teams, and DNO’s/iDNO’s.
  • Education – A Bachelor's Degree, HNC, or HND in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Industry Experience – Generally 5+ Years of experience in the Power sector, specifically within NEW Connections, Grid-Scale Renewables, and/or High Voltage (HV) Systems.
  • Direct experience compiling Tender documents, writing proposals, and handling Pre-Tender Commercial Reviews.
  • Strong Diligence, with the ability to work without Supervision.
  • Excellent Time Management Skills.
  • Exceptional Customer Service Skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills are necessary with the ability to develop relationships and maintain effective networks and be results-focused tempered with a team-centred approach.
