About the Role My client is looking for a Maintenance Engineer who will play a key role in keeping their manufacturing operation running safely, efficiently and reliably.
This is much more than a reactive maintenance position.
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and taking ownership of projects that help drive the business forward.
Working closely with the Technical team and Health & Safety team, you'll be responsible for maintaining our production equipment, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and helping create a proactive maintenance culture across the site.

Key Responsibilities Planned & Reactive Maintenance
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across all production equipment and site facilities.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults quickly and effectively.
- Respond to machine breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Ensure machinery remains compliant with safety legislation and company standards.
- Carry out PAT testing
- Continuous Improvement & Projects
- Lead and support equipment improvement projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve machine reliability, efficiency and performance.
- Assist with the installation, commissioning and validation of new equipment.
- Work with production teams to reduce recurring faults and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Support factory layout improvements and engineering projects as the business grows.
- Engineering & Technical Support
- Work collaboratively with the Technical and Health & Safety teams to ensure equipment remains compliant and safe.
- Support root cause investigations following breakdowns or incidents.
- Assist in developing safe systems of work and engineering procedures.
- Recommend improvements to maintenance schedules and engineering standards.
- Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Source and purchase engineering components, spare parts and consumables.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and external contractors.
- Monitor stock levels of critical spare parts.
- Obtain quotations and ensure best value for engineering purchases.
- Team Support
- Work collaboratively across all departments.
- Support and mentor engineering apprentices and colleagues, sharing knowledge and developing engineering capability within the business.
- Provide technical guidance to production teams where required.
- Be willing to support other areas of the business during busy periods or where additional resource is required.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer with strong electrical and mechanical experience.
- Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent).
- Experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
- Good knowledge of health and safety requirements within manufacturing.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Knowledge of pneumatics
Desirable
- PLC fault-finding experience.
- Knowledge of VFDs
- Experience with automated production machinery.
- Welding and fabrication skills.
