We’re looking for an organised, confident and community‑minded volunteer to take on the role of Chairperson for the 1st Andover Scout Group. If you’re a natural “i‑dotter and t‑crosser” with a steady pair of hands, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

As Chair, you’ll help lead the Trustee Board — the team that keeps Scouts running safely, legally, and effectively behind the scenes. From ensuring meeting places are in great condition to supporting financial decisions and governance, you’ll help create the foundations that allow young people to have the very best Scouting experience.

You don't need to have been a Trustee before. Full support and training are provided, and much of the role can be done flexibly from home. You’ll be joining a friendly, values‑driven team committed to supporting young people in Andover.

About the Role

As Chairperson, you’ll guide the Trustee Board and make sure the group operates smoothly and safely. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the Trustee Board
  • Planning meeting schedules and key agenda items
  • Chairing Trustee meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
  • Liaising with Lead Volunteers
  • Overseeing recruitment and induction of new Trustees
  • Supporting Trustees with regular check‑ins and annual reviews

This is primarily a behind‑the‑scenes leadership role. While quarterly meetings and the AGM require attendance, the majority of tasks can be completed flexibly at home — making it ideal for someone who enjoys strategic thinking, teamwork, and making a meaningful difference in their community.
