About You
You’ll be reliable, practical and take genuine pride in your work. You enjoy working outdoors in all seasons and understand the importance of maintaining safe, clean and visually appealing environments. Whether working independently or as part of a wider team, you’ll approach each task with care, attention to detail and a strong work ethic. You’ll also be friendly and approachable, happy to assist guests when needed and represent Unity Holidays in a professional manner at all times. Above all, you’ll bring commitment, positivity and a team-first mindset to every shift.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, landscaping or horticulture is desirable but not essential.
- A basic understanding of horticultural practices, biodiversity and environmental sustainability is advantageous.
- Experience using gardening equipment such as pedestrian mowers, strimmers or hedge trimmers is beneficial.
- Ride‑on mower experience is desirable (training will be provided).
- You must be physically able to undertake manual outdoor work.
All duties must be carried out in line with company health & safety policies and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain lawns, hedges, flower beds and landscaped areas to the highest standards.
- Cut grass using pedestrian mowers and strimmers.
- Trim hedges in accordance with wildlife legislation and nesting regulations.
- Maintain fence lines, van bases and areas unsuitable for mowing.
- Carry out seasonal planting of annuals and perennials.
- Undertake plug planting and polytunnel work.
- Support tree planting and arboriculture projects where required.
- Assist with ride‑on mower operation following appropriate training.
- Maintain gardens on empty plots and communal spaces.
- Promote wild growth areas in line with our conservation and sustainability plans.
- Monitor and support biodiversity initiatives including wildlife habitats.
- Maintain safe working practices and comply with all legal requirements.
- Support the planting and growing of seasonal produce for resort kitchens.
- Maintain tools and equipment, reporting defects promptly.
- Work independently or collaboratively depending on project requirements.
- Take an active role in the company sustainability programme.
- Undertake any reasonable duties within your training and capability.
Hours of Work
The working week will generally be Monday to Friday, however occasional weekend working may be required depending on operational needs. Start and finish times will vary seasonally in line with daylight hours and business demands. Flexibility during peak holiday periods is essential.
