Rate: £13.45 per hour

Contracted Hours: Flexible working, mixture of days and nights covering Monday – Sunday as required (minimum of 12 hours per month)

Objective

To work as a DCSO Officer, providing a high level of customer service at our client site. Act as the first point of contact for all staff and visitors entering the building. Liaise with the client and stakeholders. Work alongside the wider Security Team and all service lines on site. Ensure the protection of persons and property and thereby the provision of a safe and secure environment.

Duties

  • The maintenance of good order on site, including the protection of everyone therein against violent acts, abuse and accident.
  • The protection of the client’s property against loss, theft, damage (including fire and water) and waste.
  • The protection of private property belonging to the client, their staff and visitors against loss, theft and damage.
  • Prevent offences against the law of the land, UniTrust disciplinary codes and policies and ensure all are brought to the attention of the management.
  • Ensure basic fire precautions are in place and means of escape are clear.
  • Undertake internal and external patrols and inspections in accordance with Assignment Instruction/SOP’s.
  • Utilise the patrolling and reporting system where applicable.
  • Work with the reception team to meet and greet visitors and ensure relevant security procedures are carried out.
  • Some standing (for more than one hour) may be required.
  • Escalate any security and maintenance related issues to the Facilities Team by detailed and accurate emails/incident reports.
  • Production and administration of access cards for tenants, visitors and contractors for the access control system.
  • Monitor, elevate, and respond to alarms as required with the CCTV, Security & BMS systems.
  • As a part of the Facilities Management Response Team, provide assistance with emergency procedures in accordance with instructions and training.
  • Management of contractors for the client and tenants.
  • Liaise with tenants particularly during tenant’s fit out stage.
  • Complete permit to work forms as required.
  • Carry out escort duties for contractors and some deliveries as required.
  • Ensure that no unauthorised persons are permitted in prohibited areas.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Manage ad-hoc projects/tasks.
  • Monitor and respond to CCTV and intruder alarms.
  • Liaise with the Building Services for out of hours service calls.
  • Key Control and management of daily issues.
  • General security duties and duties in line with the front of house role as requested by the Facilities Team.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Officers must have the Security Industry Training Organisation basic qualification or equivalent experience.
  • First aid qualification is desired, but not essential, as training can be provided by the company.
  • CCTV licence is required for this role.

Training

Officers must undergo a minimum of 4 days on site training.

Aptitudes and attitudes

  • Excellent literacy and communication skills, together with excellent verbal and written English.
  • Possess a good telephone manner.
  • Be computer literate, Email, Word and Excel.
  • Carry and be capable of using all security equipment necessary to efficiently perform the duties required of a professional security officer.

  • A consistently smart appearance in the uniform provided and required by Unitrust and its clients.
  • Reliability, energetic, self-motivation and ability to use own initiative and work without supervision.
  • Be able to cope with multiple tasks in a calm professional manner.

  • An excellent level of physical fitness to enable the post holder to perform patrol and emergency response duties efficiently and effectively.

The nature of the role is such that it is critical that the post holder has and will maintain an excellent record of attendance and timekeeping.
