OBJECTIVE
To supervise all aspects of the client’s security requirements and take responsibility for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the client’s security function, whilst based at the main reception to Parexel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the management of the security contract at the client’s premises.
- Control, monitor and instruct a team of security personnel in procedures, including Assignment Instructions; SOP’s, Reception Duties; Health & Safety and any client instructions.
- Ensure Assignment Instructions are adhered to at all times by security personnel.
- Ensure that all Unitrust personnel follow the correct dress code.
- Forward security documentation to the Contract Manager (when applicable).
- Provide information for and in accordance with company disciplinary procedures as directed by the Contract Manager and Human Resources.
- Ensure all staff are trained to the client’s and the company’s standards.
- Develop teamwork within the workforce, ensuring high morale through effective motivational methods and ongoing training.
- Provide line management responsibility to security officers, including welfare issues under the guidance of the Contract Manager.
- Review Security Officer performance and development and report to the Contract Manager through annual appraisals.
- Comply with company health and safety procedures.
- Carry out in a professional and diligent manner all other duties properly assignable to the position of Security Supervisor.
Additional Site Duties
- Investigations of thefts, complaints and incidents.
- Record and report all incidents and accidents.
- Keep security records and logs up to date.
- Allocation of site duties to Security Officers.
- Admin duties to include: key audits, fire alarm tests, equipment status logs and card audits.
- Monitor and train staff on the client’s security systems (CCTV, access control, fire alarms and intruder alarms).
- Deal with staff and visitors enquiries and requests.
- Initialise call out procedures in the event of a crisis situation arising.
- Prepare and participate at monthly meetings with the customer.
- Send weekly security reports to the Contract Manager.
- Conduct volunteers bag searches in conjunction with Parexel clinical staff.
- Small maintenance tasks.
- Assist with deliveries and internal mail.
- Reception cover.
- Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety rules, procedures, laws and accepted safe work practices.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications
- Supervisors must have a SIA Licence and equivalent 3 years experience in a similar role with 5 years industry experience.
- Carry and be capable of using all security equipment necessary to efficiently perform the duties required of a professional security officer.
- Training: The supervisor must undergo 3 days on site training.
Aptitudes and attitudes
- Candidates must possess excellent verbal and written English.
- Candidates must possess an excellent telephone manner.
- Candidates must be computer literate.

- A consistently smart appearance in the uniform provided and required by Unitrust.
- Reliability, self-motivation and ability to use own initiative and work without supervision.
- The ability, tact and diplomacy to deal with people including the client, the client’s staff and visitors, in all circumstances including emergencies and other times of stress.
- Self-confidence and an interest in self-development.
- A level of physical fitness to enable the post holder to perform patrol and emergency response duties efficiently and effectively.

- The nature of the role is such that it is essential that the post holder has and will maintain an excellent record of attendance and timekeeping.
