Rate: £14.34 per hour
Hours of Work: Various – Days nights & weekends with a minimum of 16 shifts per month

Objective
To work as a member of the security team for the protection of persons and property and thereby the provision of a safe and secure environment. Working within this high-profile environment your primary role is to ensure the security of people, premises, and property, protecting the reputation of the client/tenants throughout. You will support the delivery of a truly exceptional customer journey for both staff and visitors. Excellence in customer service will be at the heart of the role. You will be part of a well drilled security operation.
Duties
- The maintenance of good order in all UniTrust sites including the protection of everyone therein against violent acts, abuse and accident.
- The protection of a client’s property against loss, theft, damage (including fire and water) and waste.
- The protection of private property belonging to the client, their staff and visitors against loss, theft and damage.
- Prevent offences against the law of the land, UniTrust disciplinary codes and policies and ensure all are brought to the attention of the management.
- Access control for staff and visitors. Use X-ray machines to carry out airport type of security searches at any of the three entrances.
- Ensure basic fire precautions are in place and means of escape are clear.
- Maintain vigilance on the public within sight of all areas for damage, theft etc. and deal effectively with offenders.
- Internal and external patrolling.
- Monitoring and responding to CCTV and intruder alarms.
- Liaison with the client’s staff for out of hours service calls.
- General security duties.
- Completing incident reports a daily occurrence book and other security documentation.
Responding to
- All fire alarms and related emergencies.
- All other types of incidents (e.g. floods, gas leaks, defective lifts etc.).
- Intruders and other crime-related incidents.
- Providing assistance in all cases, in accordance with instructions and training.
Other duties
- Providing reception cover as instructed.
- Assisting with mail deliveries when required.
- Carrying out in a professional and diligent manner all other duties properly assignable to the position of Security Officer.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Officers must have attended the SIA required training and hold a valid SIA licence.
- Officers must have at least 2 years Security experience, Police or Military experience is preferred.
- Carry and be capable of using all security equipment necessary to efficiently perform the duties required of a professional security officer.
Training
- Officers must undergo 3 days on site training.
Aptitudes and attitudes
- Good literacy and communication skills and have excellent verbal and written English, French will be an asset.
- Possess a good telephone and radio manner.
- Be computer literate.
