Shift Pattern and Hours
Shift Pattern : 1 x nights and 1 x days
Hours of Duty: 42 hrs per week average
Pay Rate: £16.58 per hour
Core Duties
- Lead and manage a small team of security officers, overseeing their daily duties on the ground. Team roles include static entry posts, mobile foot patrols, control room CCTV operators, and event security.
- Manage control room CCTV operators to ensure they are proactively monitoring the park for security concerns, tracking persons/ vehicles of interest, maintaining logbooks, conducting daily checks, processing contractors and deliveries, answering intercoms, issuing keys, monitoring alarms and other tasks in SOPs.
- Manage foot patrols and static posts to ensure they are conducted as per SOPs, to high standards, with high levels of visibility/ deterrence, and cover the full site while scanning patrol tags and report on radios correctly.
- Conduct daily morning team briefings and shift inspections to ensure timely attendance and the smart and consistent appearance of the team.
- Ensure post rotations are conducted efficiently and on time as per agreed schedules and that officers have sufficient rest and welfare breaks.
- Act as site commander for day-to-day minor issues and queries from security officers or members of the public, while referring more serious or sensitive issues up the chain to Site Security Manager or Deputy Security Manager.
- Ensure the parks’ culture and ethos of 5-star customer service is incorporated into everything the team does, leading with enthusiasm, positivity and confidence.
- If on duty out of office hours or at weekends, to act as principal site security commander until such time as management support arrives.
- To cover security officer posts as per the schedule at break and other times (CCTV controller, patrols, static posts).
- To ensure daily/ weekly/ monthly checks of security and H&S equipment are conducted on time in the approved manner such as intruder alarms, fire alarms, first aid kits, defibs, permits, keys, passes, CCTV logs, maintenance issue logs.
- To conduct regular team training using training materials, plans and guidance provided by security management team to fully support you in this. To conduct periodic testing of officer knowledge and competence.
- To deal with minor daily HR and officer performance and welfare issues in order to maintain team morale, cohesion and performance.
- Produce daily handover notes for oncoming shift, conduct hand over takeover with other shift DSMs, account for team kit and equipment, issue team kit and equipment, compile uniform requests.
Skills and Qualifications
- Confident using email, computers, word, excel.
- SIA D.S. License and CCTV license.
- Minimum 1 years’ experience working as a DSM preferred.
- Minimum 5 years security industry experience preferred.
- Experience with event security or shopping centre security preferred.
- Excellent customer service and diplomacy skills.
- Positive outlook, solutions driven approach, flexible mindset.
- Ability to lead, motivate, discipline and develop teams.
- Fluent in written and verbal English.
