The Duty Shift Supervisor role will be responsible for providing positive assistance to the Security Manager in controlling daily (days/nights) operational requirements of the contract in line with the customer and contractual expectations. Ensuring service delivery and prompt response to all incidents. The Duty Shift Supervisor will manage daily operational activities and report to the Security Manager. The role requires the monitoring of the CCTV system, access control, issuing of radios and keys during the hours operations both days and nights.
Required Competencies
- Experience in a similar environment where you have led and innovated the security delivery across an assignment.
- Demonstrable leadership, influencing and communication skills to deliver outcomes that meet operational requirements.
- Experience in change management and analytical skills, alongside demonstrable experience of leading & developing teams.
- Sound knowledge of the security industry, associated standards and protocol in the appropriate sector.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Be fully conversant and comply with the Assignment Instructions and Health & Safety Risk assessments.
- Ensure electronic Daily Occurrence Book e(DOB) is always accurately maintained.
- Ensure that all logbooks (visitors register, key register, fire logbook e.g.) are correctly completed and up to date.
- Ensure all personnel that work under your control are adequately trained on systems in use.
- Maintain the control room visitor logs as per GDPR requirements.
- Carry out annual appraisals of your direct reports.
- Carry out monthly welfare check meetings with your direct reports.
- Operate and monitor all Control Room systems.
- Report any system issues to the Security Manager.
- Responsible for producing ID Passes.
- Responsible for the administration of Lost & Found Property.
- Carry out special administrational tasks/projects as issued by the Security Manager and/or the client.
- Ensure Weekly CCTV Camera Audits are carried out with random playback checks of CCTV recordings.
- Action CCTV Footage requests via Email from the client who is the controller of the CCTV system.
- Be familiar with the Control Room activities at all times.
- Ensure all staff know and understand the fire evacuation policies and procedures.
- Carry out daily verification checks to ensure all control room systems are fully operational and initiate corrective action where necessary.
- Be conversant with all life safety systems and assist in responding to all emergencies promptly.
- Supervise the on-duty Security Officers.
- Be the responsible person out of hours.
- Ensure that all reasons for absenteeism are recorded and forwarded to the Security Manager.
- Carry out any other reasonable managerial instructions.
Operational Duties
- Report & liaise daily with the Deputy Security Manager to ensure effective communication regarding all matters about the delivery and professional security service to the contract.
- Liaise with the Deputy Security Manager on any problems which may occur throughout the shifts.
- Liaise with the DSM to ensure complete coverage of site and manage any areas where responsibilities overlap.
- Ensure that all equipment is managed and monitored and report all defective equipment to the Security Manager.
- Ensure that all officers are compliant with SIA requirements.
- Maintain a good level of morale and discipline within the team, taking into consideration officer's welfare.
- Set high standards for others to follow.
- Have a good knowledge of security procedures.
- Understanding the computer systems within the Control Room.
- Understanding of the CCTV / Access Control system.
- Ensure that excellent telephone manner is always used.
- Have the ability to think independently under pressure.
- Understanding of computer-based software with regards to scheduling - (TimeGate).
- Understand the need to always display an official but courteous manner.
