Employment Term: Casual

Location: Rockhampton

Remuneration: $35.10 per hour + Super + NFP Salary Packaging.

About the Role

As a Lead Sorter you will supervise and train sorters and volunteer staff, assist with staff rosters, timesheets, and sign‑on sheets, and support the overall function of the distribution centre. The role involves ensuring staff comply with workplace health and safety policies, maintaining equipment, overseeing processing of shop orders, and supporting quality control and inventory management. You will promote a harmonious team environment, ensure confidentiality, and fulfil any additional duties as directed by your supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train sorters and volunteer staff.
  • Assist with organising staff rosters, checking timesheets, and sign‑on sheets.
  • Ensure staff comply with Workplace Health and Safety and Code of Conduct policies.
  • Support the development of distribution centre procedures with supervisors.
  • Ensure donated stock is sorted to meet production targets and quality standards.
  • Assist with sorting donated goods when required.
  • Oversee the processing of shop orders and distribution of stock.
  • Maintain equipment in good working order and arrange repairs as needed.
  • Ensure only trained staff operate equipment.
  • Assist with ordering and storing items.
  • Promote teamwork and a strong work ethic.
  • Understand and enforce quality control standards.
  • Perform work with minimal supervision when required.
  • Apply sound knowledge of distribution facility duties below this level.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy in all matters.
  • Undertake additional duties as directed within the position’s scope.
  • Act as a customer‑focused, values‑based team member and collaborate with UnitingCare staff and volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate daily paperwork.
