The Deputy Manager, with the support and supervision of the Registered Manager, is responsible for the management and supervision of both the Team Leaders and Residential Support Worker team and any ancillary staff. The role is based in a Registered Children’s home where you will be responsible for the provision of the care to each individual young person, in accordance with their care plan, agreed objectives, standards, policies and procedures.
Role of Deputy Manager:

The Deputy Manager is expected to work flexible hours to meet the changing needs within the home.

Must assist the Registered Manager in maintaining a rota to ensure there is sufficient staff coverage at all levels.

Identify any deficits in care and the training needs of the staff. Provide training as identified to the staff group on a formal and informal basis.

Assist the Registered Manager in the management of the home.

Pre-admission assessments and visits where available, admission of the young person, and orientation to the placement, devising quality outcome plans for the young person, ensuring all young person files of paperwork are complete and in good order, providing monthly summaries for internal reviews and for placing authority distribution, attending all key meetings involving the young person, identifying any unmet needs on an ongoing basis and discussing with relevant senior team members how these are to be met.

Ensure that proper attention is given by all staff to the health, safety and welfare matters throughout the home.

Ensure that the care and well-being of the young people is maintained at the highest level at all times. In the absence of the Registered Manager to be responsible for arrangements of admissions of young people to the home.

Ensure that all young people receive proper medical, dental and other ancillary care appropriate to their needs.

Encourage, stimulate and participate in social activities for the benefit of the young people.

Contribute reports to Statutory and Case Reviews and other specific occasions.

Co-operate at all times with the differing Social Services Departmental staff and other professionals in carrying out their duties.

Attend Company and other meetings as required.

Driving License is essential.

Have or working towards Diploma Level 5 Leadership & Management preferred.

Experienced working as a Deputy Manager or similar role is essential

Proven background working in a management role supporting children / young people / young adults with learning difficulties, mental health, emotional difficulties and managing complex needs

Good listening and communication skills.

Strong management and IT skills are required.
