Intake Quality Controller (QC) wanted in Bury St Edmunds.

PAY: From £13.57 per hour

HOURS: 10:30 - 19:00

DAYS: Monday - Friday

Direct Table Foods is recruiting for a full-time Intake QC to join its team. Direct Table Foods is one of the UK’s leading bacon, gammon and sausage processors. Based in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, we have a rich heritage stretching back more than 50 years and a strong vision for the future.

Role responsibilities:

  • Supporting the delivery of all functional demands
  • Ensuring processes and procedures are followed
  • Supporting company efforts to raise quality standards, and improve team working and communication
  • Championing health and safety on site, ensuring colleagues work in a safe environment
  • Being commercially aware to help introduce cost reduction measures
  • Monitoring departmental KPIs and ensuring targets are achieved and improved upon
  • Ensuring the business is compliant throughout
  • Auditing of Quality Management System (QMS), process, GMP, fabrication and Hygiene
  • Verification of hygiene standards (ATP, Visual, Environmental Swabbing) and temperature control
  • Verifying key equipment used in the QMS, such as temperature probes, scales, salt analysis
  • Investigating customer complaints, supplier non-conformances and internal non-conformances
  • Sample collecting, registration and sensory evaluation testing
  • Providing training and support, where required
  • Creating a food-safety culture
  • Liaising with support functions, as required, to support the site/business strategy
  • Supporting and answering team queries in a timely manner

Knowledge, skills and experience desired:

  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety
  • Working knowledge of computer systems, such as Word, Excel, email, PowerPoint and databases
  • Experience of working within a food-based manufacturing industry
  • Experience of working to food accreditation standards and customer codes of practice
  • Experience of working with diverse teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Internal auditor certification desired.
