The role involves the safe and efficient transportation of goods between the UK and Ireland, ensuring timely delivery and collection while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service. The position requires a professional driver with a Full HGV Class 1 licence, valid CPC card, and Digital Tachograph, capable of managing overnight stays in the cab and adhering to all road transport and company regulations.

Requirements

  • Full HGV Class 1 Driving License, with full Digital Tachograph and valid CPC card.
  • Previous professional driving experience (HGV Class 1, Class 2, Plant, Bus, etc.).
  • Willingness to drive between the UK and Ireland.
  • Experience sleeping in the cab overnight.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Understanding and compliance with all health and safety requirements.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Good geographical knowledge of the UK.
  • Proficiency with technological tools, including mobile applications, scanners, and email.
  • Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Follow a planned route to ensure timely service to customers and report any issues or changes.
  • Sleep overnight in the vehicle while en route to delivery and collection points.
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with the ‘Daily Vehicle Check’ procedure.
  • Drive safely and responsibly, adhering to all current Road Transport Regulations.
  • Safely load and unload vehicles at delivery and collection points.
  • Comply with all legislation and paperwork requirements related to the vehicle’s Tachograph.
  • Maintain the vehicle’s cleanliness and report any problems immediately.
  • Participate in ongoing training provided by the Company.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as allocated by management.
