We’re looking for a proactive and detail‑oriented Assistant HR Business Partner to join our HR team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering a responsive and high‑quality HR service, supporting colleagues across the organisation. Acting as the first point of contact for HR queries, you’ll contribute to the full employee lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding through to employee relations and leavers—ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a positive employee experience throughout. Working closely with the HR Business Partner, you’ll also support payroll processes, absence management, training coordination, and continuous improvement of HR systems and practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for HR queries, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and employment matters
- Support the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, changes, and leaver processes
- Manage HR records and maintain accurate data on HR systems in line with GDPR requirements
- Coordinate end‑to‑end recruitment processes, including advertising, shortlisting, interviews, and pre‑employment checks
- Ensure DBS and safeguarding checks are completed in line with safer recruitment practices
- Assist with payroll input, ensuring timely and accurate submissions
- Maintain training and development records and support onboarding activities
- Produce basic HR reports and data analysis for stakeholders
- Act as note‑taker for formal HR meetings, ensuring clear and accurate documentation
- Contribute to HR policy updates and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
We’re looking for someone who thrives in a busy HR environment and is passionate about delivering excellent people support. You will have:
- Degree‑level education or equivalent experience
- Proven HR or HR administration experience (ideally within education, care, or not‑for‑profit)
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Experience working within a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary team
- Confidence communicating with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands
- Good numerical skills and an understanding of payroll processes
- CIPD qualification (or working towards) – desirable
